LO3 - Editing footage with special effects
On this screenshot we are showing how we have added the VR light rays filter as this is a simple edit which matches the idea of it being a memory. We have also sliced the footage to make sure that the footage flows more and looks as if it's not been edited.
During the editing of the scene we have had to slice the footage into 3 separate sections to then be able to further add a slow motion shot in the scene to help add to the atmosphere of the short film. From doing this it means that the audience will be able to identify the genre of the short film and the storyline that is occurring.
To add special effects to the scene we have added the special effects of a slow motion shot of the guy looking at the girl, this adds a more intense and a 'romantic' feeling to the short film. This has been done because it adds to the classic scene of when the first cross over to be dramatic in other short films, this adds a classic touch to the short film and makes it seem more professional.
We decided to slow the clip down by 50% to make the scene have a more dramatic and intense atmosphere to the scene. This scene needs to be more intense because it needs to create a dramatic feel to add to the storyline of the guy liking the girl and the girl not paying attention to the guy.
In this screenshot we have edited two pieces of footage together to make the effect that the main character is talking to himself in the mirror and the reflection is responding to him whilst acting fed up. The blue line down the screen is called a mask for we used a pen tool to mask out he section that we wanted to overlay.
This screenshot is showing how we used the pen tool for layering in the mirror scene, we have also feathered it to make sure that the scene is not noticeable with the editing.
In these screenshots we have edited there to be adjusted colour to make the scene feel warmer, this conveys the idea of the setting being a place of comfort and the mood being cosy, which is a common theme for indoor settings in the winter.
