Unit 5 | Short Film Production

 

 

To gather audience feedback we made an questionnaire for the audience to answer through Survey Monkey a platform that can be shared with others that can be edited before sending to ask appropriate questions. From the feedback we have gathered we will act upon the feedback and improve our short film production, this will strengthen the quality of the short film for we have primary feedback from the target audience on what can be improved on the short film and if the storyline and editing concludes the short films conventions we included. Based on the feedback that we have been given we will be making user to act upon the changes that need to be done, for example we will be making sure that the editing changes will be altered and there will be extra footage added to elaborate onto the storyline that is already there.   First of all you need to select the full clip, once you do this a white box will appear around both (this means that the audio and clip you have chosen is linked). If you want to the unlink your audio and chose a different audio then you need to right click onto the clip. After you have right clicked a drop down menu will appear, to unlink the audio you need to scroll down the menu then press onto unlink, I did this because I wanted to get rid of the background audio since there was roadworks happening and people shouting where we were filming. Furthermore, after you have unlinked the audio there shouldn't be a white box around both of the    clip and audio and there should just only be box around the clip. Once you have unlinked the audio from the clip you then need to click on the audio you want to delete and then either right click and press cut or press the backspace button on your keyboard. During the film ing process we abided by health and safety guidelines through checking the locations we  would be filming at and the safety procedures that are already in place at the current time. To secure the health and safety guidelines we made sure that the equipment was checked for the battery percentage before it was taken out and it was all packed into safety bags to then be taken to the specific locations. This made sure that all the equipment was secure and safe, and none would become damaged during the transportation from locations. Whilst recording we made sure that all the wires and equipment was safely secured together to make sure that nobody would trip over any of the wires whilst we was filming, to state all the security measures and safety measure we will take we have created a risk assessment outlining all the possible risks and how we can avoid them from occurring and how we could solve them.   On this screenshot we are showing how we have added the VR light rays filter as this is a simple edit which matches the idea of it being a memory. We have also sliced the footage to make sure that the  footage flows more and looks as if it's not been edited.  During the editing of the scene we have had to slice the footage into 3 separate sections to then be able to further add a slow motion shot in the scene to help add to the atmosphere of the short film. From doing this it means that the audience will be able to identify the genre of the short film and the storyline that is occurring.  To add special effects to the scene we have added the special effects of a slow motion shot of the guy looking at the girl, this adds a more intense and a 'romantic' feeling to the short film. This scene matches the generic conventions through the inclusion of multiple shots taken from different angles to allow an establishment of location and immerse themselves in the scene and feel the atmosphere. This is done as though the study of real shot films we have learnt how certain shot types and lighting can affect shot and reflects the genre of the short film. This scene has a more warm and soft lighting from the light above the pool table to give a sense of comfort and then the male is more prominent to match conventional gender ideals and stereotypes as the male is the one potting the balls whereas the female is unsuccessful. To also make sure it seemed real and immersive, we raised the sensitivity of the microphone to also capture the background noise slightly and some off the rooms echo, this is just to make the atmosphere feel more complete, it also saves getting background noise to add in post production. While filming 'The First Sight' we ensured careful consideration of health and safety was taken when filming each scene, this was to ensure that everyone on the site of the recording was safe. To ensure that the camera crew was safe we ensure that we checked all equipment was functional and safe, for examples all cameras needed caps for their lenses and bags and had fully charged batteries, as with the other equipment it was all bagged and ensured that bags were not too heavy as they would need to be carried for transportation between shooting locations. While we were shooting each scene we ensured there was no tripping hazards in terms of wires and that they were all together and secured. We made a risk assessment outlining all potential risks and how they were avoidable. We ensured that all locations had clear and easy accessibility and they had a fire exit that we can access incase of an emergency.
